Hey they’re posting my teacher’s stuff again.

Just an easy trick I learned a few years ago that I thought I’d share. May not work 100% all the time, but works well for simple hand/arm placement.

One Word Assignment: Zebra
I wanted to draw a superhero, so i made the lightning zebra stripes and that’s how i justified this fulfilling the assignment. I named him Shock Jaw because I felt like it. and it was easier to make a cool title than the other name I had: Death Bolt. This was also very Dan Hipp inspired.
I had class with this dude. He is good you should follow his Tumblr if you’re one of three people who follows me.

Source: waterloggedcomicHERE’S THE FINAL PART OF THE POST OMG I BET YOU GUYS ARE SO THRILLED BY ALL OF THIS ALL ONE OF YOU
Picture 1:
Here is the first concept for the Chapter 1 cover. The idea behind this one was to show Amos and Manny working on the ship, because that’s what they do. Like, duh.
Picture 2:
This was the concept for the Chapter 1 cover that we ended up going with. Nothing much else to say about it.
Picture 3:
One more concept done for the Chapter 1 cover. This is how the conversation went:
Me:Yo, okay, so I drew up this one last idea for the Chapter 1 cover real quick. Check it out, I just put it in the Dropbox.
Brandon: Okay, I’ll let you know when I have it.
Me:…
Brandon:It’s great, we’re gonna use this one.
Picture 4 - 10:
I may have mentioned before about how Waterlogged used to be about two pirates who wanted to open a gardening shop. Well, we did do about 6 pages of storyboard before we decided to scrap the whole gardening idea (we found it to be unnecessary to the plot and we were having difficulty actually working that aspect into the story). This is before we both got OpenCanvas and we used, instead, IScribble.net to do our storyboards. The system we use now is way, way better.
Thanks for reading this (if you did) and thanks for keeping up with Waterlogged (if you have been). We look forward to bringing you Chapter 2 next week.

Picture 1:
This drawing is a quick pencil doodle that was scanned in. It would eventually become the first page of the comic.
Picture 2:
More scanned pencil doodles. After Amos and Manny were finally designed (for the most part), Brandon and Ian spent some time drawing the characters and getting used to how they look, move, etc.
Picture 3:
Since they would both be drawing the comic, Brandon and Ian tried drawing the characters side by side to see how close to each other their drawings of the characters would look, and if either had any good ideas for the characters they hadn’t considered. The final result was “Not too bad”. Also, it’s weird typing in the third person. Hi guys, this is Ian typing this post up. How’s it going?
Picture 4:
These are the final concepts for Captain. Minor changes here and there, but after doing these, Brandon and myself were pretty psyched about the look of the character.
Picture 5:
Picture of Amos the artists use as reference to make sure they don’t mess anything up. This picture became obsolete after we started breaking the really by the cover page.
Picture 6:
Same as above, but for Manny.
Picture 7:
The color maps for Amos and Manny. Any time Brandon or myself wants to start coloring the comic, we basically drop this picture into Photoshop and start using the inkdropper.
Picture 8:
Same as above, but for Captain. I dunno why we keep forgetting to draw the giant penis that’s part of the Captain’s hat, we should really remember to do that from now on…
Picture 9:
Miscellaneous pirate concept art done while waiting to start up the comic.
I HAVE ONE MORE PICTURE BEFORE I HIT THE LIMIT BUT I’MA PUT IT IN PART 3, THE FINAL PART OF THIS POST!
Source: waterloggedcomicHey there folks! Since it’s our week off to get our lives sorted out before we begin work on Chapter 2, what with school ending for the summer and all, here is something to keep the fans who pay attention to this Tumblr nice and satiated til next week.
Here’s the concept art of Waterlogged! At least, concept art we felt you would actually care to see or that wouldn’t spoil anything.
Picture 1:
So, first is the very first picture of Manny ever done. It was drawn by Brandon. Fun fact is that this was well before we planned on doing a webcomic, though. Originally, the plan was for what would become Waterlogged to be a simple forum comic done to amuse those who visited the Clock Crew forums. The original concept was for it to be about two pirates who wanted to open up a gardening shop called “Land Lovers”. They never went through with the forum comic, and instead they did separate joke-a-week webcomics (which will not be linked here because they were terrible). After they quit those, they decided to work together on a serialized online comic, and the idea of the pirate gardening shop was brought back from the dead.
Picture 2:
This picture is further trying to hash out the character that would become Manny. As you can see, the original drawings were pretty close to what would be the final concept for Manny, because both Ian and Brandon were pretty fond of the general look of the character.
Picture 3:
These are early concepts of what Amos would look like. Fun fact: Amos is named after the character “Amos Moses” from the song of the same name by Jerry Reed (http://youtu.be/KLDtNsIKOhs). If you get them started, you will never stop Brandon and Ian from shouting “HERE COMES AAAAAAAMMOOOOOOSSSS”
Picture 4:
More Amos concepts.
Picture 5:
More Manny concepts, this time with him being closer to his current form.
Picture 6:
More Amos drawings, this time him being pretty much how we wanted him to be aside from minor changes here and there.
Picture 7:
These are early Captain designs before we had any idea of how we wanted Captain to act or what kinda of character he should be. We just knew that, if Amos and Manny (then unnamed) were going to be on a pirate ship, there should definitely be a recognizable pirate captain at the helm.
Picture 8:
More early Captain.
Picture 9:
First drawing of Captain as a nice person. The design would change, but the Captain’s personality would be somewhat based on what he shows off in this drawing. What’s interesting is that you can see how we had Manny pretty much figured out by this point, but Amos’ design was still unfinished.
Picture 10:
More Cap’n.
WHOOPS THERE’S THE PICTURE LIMIT THIS POST WILL BE CONTINUED
Source: beatonnaYou know, I’ve seen the fantastic “The Beatles: Rock Band” cinematic a few years ago from amazingly talented animator Robert Valley, but I’ve never seen this ending clip from the game. His style is just so darn.. stylish!!
And if you haven’t seen the original piece I mentioned:
Done by stupid friend Anthony. He’s a big dumb. But I love ‘im. And this is pretty depressing so i’m pretty proud.
A short by my big dumb pug-loving older ‘brother,’ Anthony Insetta.
He’s a talented fella.Insetta may be dumb butt, but his animation is very good. Saw it on the big screen during the Uarts Junior Animation Show. One of the best from his grade!
Also I did the muzak

AMAZING SUPER SKETCHDUMP TIME!
We have Frank the hotdog, sad fist, and then something that’s biting the edge of the page.
ISN’T THAT INCREDIBLE BOY SURE GLAD WE DEDICATED A WHOLE UPDATE TO THIS!
Keep an eye out for when we start posting concept art of stuff.

THIS ONE IS A DOOZY OF AN UPDATE (because we forgot to update in a while).
So, the first picture is the storyboard for page 24 of the comic, followed by how it looks if the lineart weren’t there, followed by the pencils for the page.
Then we have the storyboard for the final page of the comic, as well as the (minimal) pencils I did for that page. ‘Cause I’m a slacker and it was finals week when I did that page (still is finals week, actually, for Ian).
The next update will be a sketchdump, shortly following this one, but until then enjoy Ian redoing a page 8 to be unfunny.

Here is our first of seven interviews that feature artists who are volunteering to draw for a straight 24 hours at The Philly Draw-A-Thon. Our first artist, Ian Newton is an Illustration student at The University of the Arts. In this interview you will not only get to find out why Ian is interested in volunteering, buy you will also get to see some of his artwork displayed. Remember, this could be one of the artists you can donate to and receive sketches from at the event which is ONE MONTH AWAY!
If you would like to see more of Ian Newton’s work, vist his website here:

HEY THERE I’M A REGULAR GEOREGE CLOONEI
Source: phillydrawathon
Hey folks, I’m going to be doing some drawin’ for a charity. It’s called the Philly Draw-A-Thon, and it’s where a bunch of artists (myself being one of them) will draw for 24 hours straight to give sick kids in hospitals video games and movies to play.
As one of the three 24-hour artists who has signed up (as of yet), I will be getting a video interview, so you can expect me to post that whenever that gets all set up.
Still pay attention, especially the ladies who have a thing for dudes who do charity and have sexy bottoms.
